The Animal Guardians of Oz

There are certain beings who enter our lives quietly.

They do not announce themselves with grandeur. They do not demand to be understood.

And yet, somehow, they become part of the architecture of our days.

They walk beside us.

Not only as companions…but as keepers of something unseen.

In my world of Oz , a place both real and imagined, rooted in farm life and layered with story animals are not simply subjects of paintings.

They are emissaries. Witnesses and guardians.

They carry the gentle weight of presence.

And over time, they began to form a collection of their own:

Those Who Walk Beside Us.

A Collection Born From Companionship

This collection is an offering for anyone who has ever felt that an animal was more than an animal.

For anyone who has looked into the eyes of a dog, a horse, an owl in silhouette, and sensed a deeper intelligence…

A kind of knowing.

These pieces are inspired by the quiet magic of companionship — the way animals anchor us to the moment, soften the edges of life, and somehow guide us home to ourselves.

Each design begins as a painting. They are created in oil, in layers of color and intuition and then become something you can carry into the everyday.

A tote bag. A journal. A small portal of art woven into ordinary life.

A guardian you can carry into the everyday.
A guardian you can carry into the everyday.

The Guardians of the Everyday

There is something beautiful about functional objects that hold meaning.

A tote is never just a tote.

It becomes:

  • the bag you bring to the market

  • the one you carry on a hard day

  • the one that holds your books, your errands, your life

  • the quiet companion slung over your shoulder

And when that tote carries an animal guardian — a watcher from Oz — it becomes something more.

A reminder:

You are not walking alone.

Hidden Narratives in Plain Sight

Much of my work is built around the idea of hidden worlds.

That the unseen is always near.

That beauty is often layered beneath the obvious.

That animals, especially, seem to live with one foot in another realm.

In Oz, they are storytellers without words.

They appear in lantern light. In twilight in the fields. In dreamlike moments between the real and the symbolic.

This collection is for those who notice those moments.

For those who believe in the quiet mystery of companionship.

Carrying Art as a Kind of Presence

The pieces in Those Who Walk Beside Us are meant to be carried — not locked away.

They are art for daily life.

Small reminders of devotion, wonder, and softness.

A way to bring the storybook world into the practical world.

To carry beauty into the grocery store or into work or school. Into the day ahead.
